Vintage F&S Folk Art Wood Carving Rattle SNAKE Varmint Decoy Michigan PAINT 70s

This impressive late 1970's wood carving from a naturally occuring spiral tisted root/branch measures an impressive 37" long x 12" wide x 11" tall with 4" wide head and 7" long rattle and retains excellent, stable COLORFUL paint as pictured. Branded F&S on the bottom, it was produced by a family of Michigan wood carvers who have created decoy-inspired folk sculptures for over 4 decades.  This fella was purchased in the late 1970's and was said to be for "scaring varmints from your porch".  We have handled many works by this family and have never seen a snake before.  The paint is stable and you will note insect marks under the paint.
